A grand affair; a stylish twist on a Gothic Wedding for every couple
Today’s feature has been submitted by Caroline Versallion Bridal; new to the TilDeath Dark Wedding Collective, and one of the incredible bridal designers joining the Gothic Luxe Wedding Fair in York on the 1st September.
We invited Caroline to share some of her work with us and this gorgeous styled shoot is a wonderful first look into her world. I mean, check out the gorgeous dark red dress designed and created by Caroline for this shoot, and you can see why we welcomed her to join the show!
Tell us about the idea behind the shoot:
We snatched the usual gothic style from the dark shadows and paraded it unapologetically in a luxurious stately home. There were nods to the traditional gothic aesthetic dotted throughout including skull jewellery, black lace boots, and the blood red of the colour palette but we added some surprising elements, to up-level the sophistication.
Fanhams Hall provided the perfect backdrop for our gothic-inspired affair. With its historic charm and opulent interiors, this magnificent venue exuded an aura of grandeur and mystery, setting the stage for a truly unforgettable celebration of love. From its ornate architecture to its sprawling gardens, every corner of Fanhams Hall whispered tales of romance and intrigue, inviting nearlyweds to step into a world where fantasy meets reality.
The story behind this luxury gothic shoot was to inspire couples to defy tradition by incorporating a stronger theme within their wedding. We also wanted to showcase that you don’t necessarily need to ‘look alternative’ to have a non-traditional wedding.
It shows that every element of the wedding can be thoughtfully crafted to reflect a couple’s most personal values, from the bespoke hand made wedding gown, to the hand carved ostrich egg ring holder, to the jumping the broom ceremony. Each aspect exudes luxury and will never be forgotten by the couple, nor their guests.
All of the suppliers on this shoot belong to a Wedding Pro group. We are all small businesses, who love to create art and celebrate love. When we work together behind the scenes, we create magical events. I have found that these warm, funny artists tend to reside within the alternative wedding sector. We don’t do cookie-cutter. We build relationships with our couples to deliver a service and product that is 100% personal to them.
We’ve had around 200 years of samey white weddings, but couples are different now, so let’s celebrate each one for their own unique qualities, rather than shoe-horn them into conventionality..
