What do you do?
I’m an alternative wedding stylist, floral and stationery designer. I like to work with couples who want to express their personality with their wedding styling an instead have a wedding which is all about them. I aim to prove that Gothic and themed weddings can look stylish and classy and not in the least bit tacky. I provide a full service of all your wedding decor requirements from backdrops, table centrepieces, linens and signage, through to flowers for the wedding party and anything else which is needed. I also provide stationery design which if all booked together, ensures that every part of your wedding design looks perfect and keeping in the same style.
How did you get into this?
After getting married myself back in 2019, it surprised me just how little alternative options there are for couples who don’t want the same ‘cookie cutter’ weddings. I also became ‘obsessed’ with looking at the different ways that you can style a venue and how creative you can be with flowers. I’d previously been working as a graphic designer for over 15 years and whilst i always enjoyed the creative nature of it, I never really felt I suited being in an officeall day, and so I’d been looking to change career and work more with people for a long time. I couldn’t decided what to do until I got married and then finally all the pieces fit together. I now LOVE what i do and the feeling I’m helping couples to have the wedding day that they want is the BEST feeling!
What’s the process of working with you?
First thing is to pop me an email with your event date to see if I’m available. I then offer a free consultation by video call to talk through your needs and requirements.
How soon do people need to book you?
As I specialise in darker weddings, my busiest times of the year are the later months of September onwards. I have a lot of enquiries especially around Halloween and the last week of October, so for these popular times it’s best to book as soon as you know your wedding date. For wedding floristry using fresh flowers, I only take 1 wedding a week, so again it’s always best to book in advance to secure your date.
What piece of advice would you give?
It’s YOUR wedding, do it however the hell you want! As soon as you get engaged you will get bombarded with everybody’s opinions on what you should and shouldn’t be doing. My advice is if you don’t want it - don’t have it! All couples are different, so why should your wedding be the same as everyone else’s?! Say no to traditions if they aren’t for you, ignore people who turn their nose to what you want nad instead have a wedding day that makes you happy!
Tell us about your proudest achievement
Earlier this year I won ‘Top Wedding Blog of 2021’ with Unconventional wedding for my Galaxy themed styled shoot! For this I planned, styled and created the wedding flowers and stationery and it was my first ever photoshoot! It was held at the venue where I actually got married myself back in 2019 so it will always be very special to me.
