Introducing: Starrgazing Ceremonies
Our ethos at TilDeath is all about creating a wedding entirely about you two… the most important part of the day isn’t the outfits (I mean, as part of Legend Bridal I’m allowed to say that right?) it’s the ceremony…it’s about your bond and honouring everything about your relationship. And that’s where Louisa of Starrgazing Ceremonies steps in!
Your ceremony should be everything that celebrates your journey together… and celebrate you will with Louisa
What do you do?
There is only one! Yes, I work solely by myself but love becoming part of a team with couples. I create and deliver unusual and bizarre ceremonies - for example, ones that have involved sock throwing competitions, noodle eating battles, Kate Bush impersonation rounds, light sabre battles, caricature drawing, medieval themes and beard wearing!!
My inspiration comes from many years of working in the theatre industry but mainly being inspired by wanting to create a ceremony that is totally unlike any other so that couples and thier guests remember that part of the day! My main aim is to ensure that the ceremony is totally off the grid and that guests are included so as to make it truly memorable for everybody!
How did you get into this?
Well, we had a celebrant for our wedding back in 2007 which was inspiring!
After working in theatre management for a long time, my best friend asked me to perform a ceremony for her and her partner which was in a field. After doing this for her and realising there is so much that can be done with a wedding ceremony, I knew it was the job I wanted to do as I loved it so much!
What’s the process of working with you?
I love to meet couples for a chat first (preferably over a beer!) to get an idea of what they want and to see if we’re right for each other! After this, once a day is in the diary for the wedding, I send over some forms to fill in and then arrange to meet up (preferably face to face but an online meeting can be arranged!) to basically then brainstorm with the couple to find out what they want. It is a case of working together so we’re on the same page and being a team!
I will then create a list of ideas and suggestions for them to think about and then get writing! I always send the script to the couple to read through and ensure they are happy with everything. On the day I always arrive at least an hour before the ceremony time, and of course I always love to stick around for a beer and a chat with everyone afterwards!
How soon to people need to get in touch to book you?
Once a date is confirmed with the venue I would recommend making sure your ceremony is booked.
What piece of advice would you give?
Don’t go with what you think you ‘should’ have or what anybody else says you ‘shoud’ have! It’s your day, and your ceremony is all about you! If you want to have something that is truly memorable and reflects who YOU are, follow your instincts!
What’s you proudest achievement?
To be honest, the best achievement in my life by far was getting pregnant with my son after being told by medics that it would be impossible!
From a work point of view, being featured in publications such as Rock’n’Roll Bride, Rock My Wedding, Brides Up North and TV shows has been a great achievement, especially when the articles talk about the ceremony part of the day!
To me however, the best achievement is a hug, smile and thank you from the couple (and a nice review makes me feel chuffed!).
For Louisa (Starrgazing Ceremonies), it’s not just a case of going a bit further - it’s going a huge number of miles further to create the perfect wedding ceremony!
Sleeping is not an option for me until something weird, bizarre, quirky, and unusual has been created!
And we can see that’s true!
Louisa is joining us at the TilDeath Gothic Luxe Wedding Fair on the 22nd of January… so come prepared with your most fantastical ideas and know that Louisa will be right there to create the most memorable wedding for you!
