We first met Bex of Twilight Couture at our last event in Whitby. As some of you may know we hosted the wedding section at The Pavillion during Whitby Goth Weekend in collaboration with Leeds Festival of Gothica and had so much fun! I instantly recognised Bex from her Twilight Couture TikTok and was so pleased when her and her partner came over to chat while we were exhibiting. I had been drooling over the handcrafted crowns, halos and accessories for some time, and as soon as I saw her work in person, just knew Twilight Couture would be a perfect fit for the Gothic Luxe Wedding Fair at Left Bank in Leeds on the 22nd January… we are SO excited that Twilight Couture will be joining us and can’t wait for you to be wowed by the gorgeous couture pieces.
Tell us all about Twilight Couture…
Twilight couture is a one-woman led small business based in Greater Manchester that creates gothic and bridal headwear and couture. I sell a range of gothic crowns, halos, hand jewellery, necklaces and more that are perfect for alternative weddings, pagan handfasting ceremonies, gothic events, photoshoots, music videos and more.
How did you get into this?
Outside of making I am part of an alternative modelling agency called Rogue Model Management. During early 2020 I began to create crowns and props in preparation for photoshoots once lockdown was over. I shared some of my designs online and got a really great response with many people asking where they could buy one. I didn’t set up shop straight away though.
My grandma always told me how her great grandparents were one of the jewellers to the royal family. After losing my grandma to cancer in late summer of 2020 I developed more of an interest in jewellery making as I wanted to do something that made me still feel close to her, and something that would help me with processing the grief of losing someone so integral to my fmaily unit. In October 2020 I listed my first item on etsy and since then my small business has started to take flight.
What is the process of working with you?
I’m available through Etsy for orders and commissions and take part in a few alternative markets across Greater Manchester. I am approachable via Etsy or email.
How soon should people book you?
I mostly make items to order; smaller items can take around a week; larger items and crowns normally take between 1-2 weeks but may take longer during busier times. I do tkae commissions which can take between 4-8 weeks depending on the ambition of the design.
What piece of advice would you give?
To not give up or get disheartened when first starting out. Once you have the lucky break, things will flow your way.
What’s your proudest make/achievement?
A recent achievement was that I made a custom crown for Anabelle Iratni from Cradle of Filth, which was featured in their latest music video ‘Necromantic Fantasies’. I’ve also created custom crown and nails for Drag Queen Elektra Fence that was worn to the finale of Ru Pauls Drage Race UK season 3.
