We’re just a few short weeks away from our Gothic Luxe Wedding Fair at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall in York and we cannot wait!
We have the most AMAZING dark wedding suppliers from all over the country making their way to York to give you the opportunity to see their work in person and chat in an informal atmosphere. We aren’t like most other wedding fairs… apart from selecting the best of the best of the suppliers, who live and breath dark weddings, we have made sure that there is plenty of variety. There are nearly 40 wedding suppliers in 20 different categories, so you know there’s lots to see!
With our suppliers travelling from all over the UK, we’ve eliminated the worry that only local suppliers will be showcasing… and because there is no greater joy than working with the couples you share interests with, you’ll find that those suppliers that provide services on the day, will travel further to work your wedding… and be excited about it!

So what does that mean if you don’t live close to York?
Well it means you need to book a weekend away to this gorgeous city… and here’s a few extra things you can do and see while you’re attending the show:

Check out the Historic Architecture at York Minster. York is known for it’s stunning gothic architecture, including the iconic York Minster, a medieval cathedral with breath-taking stained glass windows. You can book a tour JUST for the stained glass - never mind the intricate stone carvings, shrines and astronomical clock.
Medieval City Walls. The City is surrounded by well-preserved medieval walls that offer panoramic views of the city and it’s picturesque surroundings.
The Shambles. The Shambles is a narrow cobbled street lined with timber-framed buildings dating back to the middle ages. It’s a hub for unique shops, boutiques, and cafe’s perfect for exploring and shopping for gothic wedding essentials
York Ghost Merchant. As we’re talking about The Shambles, we also need to talk about York Ghost Merchant situated on The Shambles… a mecca for any self respecting spooky aficionado.
Ghost walks. York is famously known as one of the most haunted cities in England. The ghost walks are spectacular and give you the perfect chance to explore the city while learning about the city’s spooky past and paranormal activity.
Gothic inspirations. York’s gothic atmosphere and dark history provides the perfect backdrop for a romantic weekend away. You’ll feel right at home hanging out in such a quirky place where the goth and alternative scene thrives and Vikings have made their home since 800AD
Cultural attractions. York boasts a wealth of museums, galleries, and cultural attractions such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Howard, York Dungeoun etc, but there are lesser known and far spookier attractions too: like The Doom Stone, The Plague House, Dick Turpins’ grave, Margret Clitherow’s shrine, the roman coffins, the secret dungeon and the dreamery gardens to name just a few.
Characterful pubs and bars. York is littered with quaint tea rooms and historic pubs allowing you to immerse yourself in the charm of the city. Our favourites include Vallhalla and The Evil eye, and for a chance of spooky encounters a visit to the Fleece could be a good choice.
And to top it off, York is an incredibly convenient location. It is easily accessible by train and public transport, and there are Park and Ride facilities on all routes in to York, with the Grimston Bar Park and Ride stopping right outside The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall at Piccadilly interchange.
